CHEMICAL  FREE  HUNTING
For the environment and health conscious hunter, the preserve is stocked with birds fed only on organic feed.  We grow the crops that are made into the organic feed.  To be certified organic, you must have a document trail for at least three years indicating the proper crop rotation, how your crop is grown, and how it is stored.  The final rule is that the grain should be fit for human consumption. Can Hunt has been in operation since 1988.  It began as an alternative to "no hunting signs" with an ultimate goal of being chemical free.

Question:  Why are you organic?
Answer:   The answer is simple. Some places use things such as fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, steroids, antibiotics (which lead to antibiotic resistant bacteria) either in the fields where their birds are, in the grain the birds are fed, or are simply in the streams, runoff, or well water the birds drink from.

Question:  OK, those are a lot of big words but what does it all mean?
Answer:   You are what you eat, and so are birds, deer, and cattle. When exposed to such things the birds store such nasty things in their fatty tissues until they are bagged and eaten. In doing so they pass all of the nasty contents onto the hunters that eat them plus can greatly effect the taste, smell, moistness, and texture of the cooked birds and game.
